Part VII

Well...here we are! It's Saturday 24 August. I knew the cast and crew would be filming today in Bridgeville, PA for the train scenes. However, since the weather was pretty nice, I wanted to run through Volant, PA again to take a better look at the garage.

I drove up to the road the station was on, and the 'Road Closed' sign was gone. Thus emboldened, I drove up the hill. I saw a small crew picking up some trash from the area, and a large Haddad's truck parked in front of the station.

I got out of the truck and went up to the guy in the Haddad's truck. I explained that I was just trying to record the 'behind the scenes' atmosphere of a TV show. He said to go ahead and look around. Feel free to head inside for some photos. Joe is one cool dude!

I also met 'The Guys'...the Set Decorators. Take a look at the gas pump island they're sitting on. It's not real! Just like the train station platform, that island is fiberglass. The pumps don't work, and the one was aged to look worse than they did when they found them.

The other piece of set decoration that I thought was a really nice touch was the 'old' oil tank on the side of the gas station. Joe told me that it was a shiny cylinder of copper when they got hold of it. They soldered the legs and pipes on top, then painted and aged the whole thing! Hell! I've got one in my backyard that looks just like this, and it's 50 years old!

Okay, remember the picture of the car up on the lift from my rainy day photo? Here's a shot of the car inside the garage. And the close-up of the same. Ready for the reality? This fender was put up on a shelf in the bathroom!

Next, I went inside and got some interior shots of the grocery store portion of the gas station. I'm anxious to see what actually appears on film!

Now, it was time to head south to the Bridgeville, PA train station again. I had no idea what time of day they would be filming, but I down there around 11:30am. I had just gotten parked when an old train slowly chugged past the station. Here are the pics from the train station filming. Be sure to look for the 'RS Evil Eye', as I've taken to calling it. I swear, that man can feel a camera on him! And I was across and down the street!

Anyway, that's it for now. I'll be putting the final segment of my odyssey and the ensuing pics up in the next day or so. Stay tuned!
