Finally, I just parked in the grass next to him, and got out to speak with him. He was from the Pittsburgh Film Company. He confirmed that TWW was filming just down the road, but that he couldn't let me go down there. I explained that I had driven up the night before from Washington DC, just to watch TV magic being made. (Yes, I know! I *will* be going to Hell for this!)
I pointed out the Maryland plates on my truck, and he finally said, "Well, I guess there's no way I could really stop you if you want to go down there!"
I decided it was time to pull 'Polite Trav' out of my...uh, hat. "You're right. It's a free country. But, if you really don't want me to go down there, I'll respect your wishes." Of course, disappointment was radiating from every syllable!
He sighed heavily, then said, "Well, you'll need to find somewhere else to park your truck. The people here are mighty particular about their yard." (I must point out that I was along the side of a road, nearly in a ditch!) "Just don't tell anyone I let you past me! The company might not like that!" I agreed to keep it to myself, and I backed the truck up. I'd already spotted a likely parking spot down the road, across the highway...
I set off with my camera bag down the road, toward the filming area. I didn't have to wait long until vehicles started backing up the road!
They were pulling up the road to reset for another shot. Turns out that they were filming *both* angles...coming up and going down the hill. I would have to cross the road after they passed each time, before they came back. It was interesting to see the parade of support vehicles involved with this one particular maneuver.
So...here are the pics from the Moving Jeep scenes!
Anyway, that's it for now. I'll be putting more of my odyssey and the ensuing pics up in the next day or so. Stay tuned!
